Stewart keeps string alive
The last weekend of the year will just about always find Tony Stewart in Fort Wayne.
Often, he uses his final opportunity of the year to win a United States Auto Club feature.
Of course, Tony doesn't have anything to lose by a failing to win such a race. It doesn't pay points and Tony wouldn't need them if it did.
But there is no such thing as a race Tony Stewart doesn't want to win. As usual, the Rumble at Fort Wayne offers two opportunities to take that last feature win of the season.
Friday night
Tony Stewart got the night off to a great start. He toured the tight Fort Wayne indoor circuit in only 7.708 seconds. That was more than 0.2 of a second faster than Billy Wease's 7.957 seconds. That difference is huge. Dave Darland, Derek Bischak and Joe Liguori rounded out the Top 5 in time trials.
